Dr. Richard Amerling, MD
Dr. Richard Amerling, a distinguished Academic Nephrologist and educator, has dedicated over four decades to advancing medicine and advocating for patient-centered care. Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Amerling graduated from Stuyvesant High School and the City College of New York before earning his MD with honors from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium in 1981. He completed his medical residency at New York Hospital Queens and a fellowship in Nephrology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, achieving lifetime certifications in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
Dr. Amerling served as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine during his 26-year tenure as an academic nephrologist at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. His career expanded internationally when he joined St. George’s University in Grenada as a Professor of Clinical Skills, teaching from 2016 to 2021. In 2020, during the first wave of Covid, Dr. Amerling volunteered at Bellevue Hospital, contributing his nephrology expertise to critical cases.
Dr. Amerling’s advocacy for medical freedom has been a hallmark of his career, most notably in 2021, when he took a stand against experimental treatments, leading to his departure from St. George’s University. His subsequent leadership roles include Associate Medical Director for America’s Frontline Doctors and founding Chief Academic Officer of The Wellness Company. In September 2024, Dr. Amerling joined GoldCare Health and Wellness as Academic Director.
As the Academic Director at GoldCare, Dr. Amerling oversees the education of both providers and members. His key responsibilities include:

Dr. Amerling is a past President of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), where he continues to serve on the Board of Directors. Dr. Amerling resides in St. Augustine, Florida, where he enjoys yacht racing, cycling, and tennis. A talented bassist and guitarist, he has performed in numerous bands since the 1960s. In 2003, he co-founded The Kidney Stones, a band celebrating his lifelong passion for music alongside British nephrologist Roger Greenwood.
